Salsa Blackthorn 125 C GX AXS Transmission Mountain Bike Description:
The Salsa Blackthorn 125 C GX AXS Transmission Mountain Bike is a highly adaptive platform that has the ability to comfortably go uphill and then push hard on the downhills. A lightweight and responsive carbon fiber frame features a long, low, and slack front end which creates remarkable stability when going downhill while a short rear triangle adds a nimble, playful nature for taking on more technical stretches; when the trail points uphill, a steep seat tube angle puts the rider in an incredibly efficient and powerful pedaling position, and the stiff lower half of the frame ensures that everything pushed through the pedals goes to the rear wheel. Rear wheel travel is articulated by a Split Pivot suspension design that adds to this bikes overall efficiency by separating braking forces from the suspension action, and the result is outstanding comfort and traction throughout the full travel range even if the brakes have been locked up. Slick full length internal cable routing, molded rubber guards throughout high-impact zones, and multiple mounts for water bottles, repair kits, and other accessories round out the versatile backbone of this bike.
Adorning this frame is a build kit that provides performance that consistently answers the bell when called on and is easy to maintain. 140mm of front travel and 125mm of rear travel are controlled by a RockShox Pike Select+ suspension fork and Deluxe Select+ rear shock, both of which have excellent small bump responsiveness, will keep the bike glued to the ground, and shield the rider from harsh impacts. A very broad 1×12 speed gear range is controlled by SRAM’s GX Eagle Transmission wireless electronic drivetrain, which delivers very rapid and precise shifting performance even when it is time to lay down the power; when it is time to apply the brakes, reliable and powerful SRAM 4-piston hydraulic disc brakes outfitted with a massive 200mm rotor up front and a 180mm out back efficiently scrub speed and get things back under control. Light and strong WTB wheels with tubeless-ready, 30mm internal width rims support 2.5″ wide Teravail Clifty and Kessel tires for a smooth rolling package that delivers fast speeds and excellent traction over a wide variety of trail surfaces. Rounding out the complete package are rock-solid cockpit components from TranzX, Salsa, and WTB, resulting in a very adaptable and capable full suspension bike that is ready to get down and boogie on any trail.
Features:
- Long, low, and slack cockpit geometry enhances stability on the descents, while a steep seat tube angle and short chainstay length maintain agility on tight trails and improve seated pedaling efficiency
- High-modulus carbon fiber main frame, seatstays, and chainstay construction with 6061-T6 aluminum links create a lightweight, stiff, and very durable platform
- Split Pivot Full Suspension System with 125mm of travel isolates pedaling forces from the braking forces to create an all-mountain platform with excellent bump compliance, pedaling efficiency, and traction even under heavy braking
- Flip-Chip frame design unlocks different bottom bracket heights, headtube angles, and seat tube angles to fine-tune the handling characteristics to suit rider preference, terrain, and/or wheel size
- Molded rubber down tube, seat tube, chainstay, and seatstay guards protect your frame from impacts and abrasion
- RockShox Pike Select+ suspension fork and Deluxe Select+ rear shock adjust to suit a rider’s preferences and provide excellent comfort and support throughout the suspension travel
- SRAM GX Eagle Transmission wireless electronic drivetrain delivers very crisp and precise shifting throughout a very wide 1 x 12 speed gear range, even when applying power to the pedals
- Powerful SRAM 4-piston hydraulic brakes with a 200mm rotor up front and a 180mm rotor in the rear offer excellent modulation and outright power for easy speed adjustments and stops
- Light and strong WTB alloy wheels combine with Teravail Clifty (front) and Drawpoint (rear) tires for outstanding grip over a wide range of trail conditions, reduced flats caused by impacts and punctures, and efficient rolling characteristics
- Two bottle cages, an integrated repair kit strap, and top tube accessory mounts carry gear on the frame, allowing a rider to ditch the hydration pack or hip pack
