Specialized Diverge 4 Sport Carbon Description:
The Specialized Diverge 4 Sport Carbon builds on the storied legacy of Specialized’s dominance in the world of trail, road, and gravel, then incorporates several competitive and comfort-based features for an elevated gravel platform that not only meets the expectations of what a gravel bike is capable of but redefines them entirely. Integrated within Diverge 4’s cockpit is the Future Shock 3.0 dampening system, the latest generation of Specialized’s revolutionary gravel platform. Future Shock 3.0 furnishes 20mm of hydraulically damped travel that absorbs impacts and road shock, leading to better handling as well as energy savings, all without compromising weight or responsiveness. Specialized Diverge 4 frame rear ends act with a sophisticated level of compliance to match the ultra-smooth performance of Future Shock 3.0 suspension up-front, deflecting up to 18mm in the opposite direction of wheel travel for comfort and managing wheel mass for better traction and power output. The implementation of both the Future Shock 3.0 and the ultra-compliant nature of Diverge 4 frames keeps riders confidently floating over rough terrain, acting with response that boosts acceleration and compliance that extends comfort through even the most arduous of rides.
Located within Diverge 4’s downtube is the redesigned SWAT 4.0 frame storage compartment, the most advanced internal storage system ever fitted to a gravel bike. SWAT 4.0 storage compartments now feature a flush-mount, lever-operated door, and the largest opening on gravel, which makes room for everything from tubes and CO2s to jackets, tools, and nutrition. Time and experience have proven that when it comes to selecting the ideal width for gravel tires, fatter is funner. Diverge 4 supports up to 50mm tires, offering massive grip, fewer flats, and supreme comfort. Developed with input from Specialized’s Factory Off-Road Team, Diverge 4’s tire clearance has been optimized for high-speed racing and rough exploration. Diverge 4 carbon is built with a small section of solid, high modulus carbon fiber on the chainstay to make it as thin as possible for massive tire clearance at a light weight, with ultimate stiffness.
Aiding every technological marvel packed into Diverge is re-engineered, confidence-boosting gravel geometry intended to elevate control and compliance. A slacker headtube increases stability at high speeds, keeping riders in control even during competitive efforts. Riders electing to use shorter gravel stems will find a longer top-tube length, centering their weight and maintaining control. Ride height programmed into each Diverge frame is preserved, even as bottom bracket clearance has been lowered, making for a better fit with wider tires, and the feeling of sitting IN the bike, not ON the bike, for all-out confidence.
