Surly Moonlander Fat Tire Mountain Bike Frameset Description:

The Surly Moonlander Fat Tire Mountain Bike Frameset is a trail ready mountain bike frameset designed to work with a unique drivetrain and to have clearance for some incredibly fat tires. At the heart of this frameset is Surly’s rugged full chromoly frame and fork that has been tweaked to allow for up to 6.2″ wide tires on 100mm wide rims to clear the frame, and fitting this frame with these super-sized shoes will allow the bike to fly over mud, ice, snow, sand, and basically whatever else is on the trail. For the ultimate in low maintenance and wide gear range, this frame is specifically designed to mount one of Pinion’s C-Line gear boxes low in the frame. The Pinion C-Line gear boxes (sold separately) are available as a 6 speed, 9 speed, or 12 speed option, and there are chain ring and rear sprocket options to further dial in the gear range. However they are configured, the gear boxes will offer a bigger gear ratio range than what is offered with a traditional derailleur based drivetrain, and placing the gearbox lower in the frame will lower the center of gravity, improving the stability of the bike at speed.

Included touches like the 197mm thru axles front and rear increase the available tire clearance, provide room for fenders, make it much easier to perform wheel and tire changes, and help add stiffness and handling precision to this bike. This frameset also features a wide assortment of braze-ons and mounts that allow fenders, racks, and many other accessories to attach to this frame, making it very easy to set this bike up for parts and accessories so you can be ready to boldly explore where you have never explored before.

• Frame utilizes external cable routing (except for the internal, or stealth, dropper post cable routing) for easy shifter cable and brake cable housing or hydraulic hose replacement
• Horizontal rear drop-outs allow for chain tension adjustments and tweaks to the wheelbase to suit the riders preferences. Integrated derailleur hanger allows for a derailleur style chain tensioner to be added to further reduce the chances of dropping a chain
• Integrated frame mount will accept Pinion Gearboxes for a clean, low maintenance drivetrain with a super wide gear range
• Multiple braze-on mounts for racks, fenders, bottle cages, and other accessories
• Clearance for up to 24″ x 6.2″, 26” x 5.1”, 27.5” x 4.8”, or 29” x 3” tires
