Giant CXR X1 Disc Gravel Wheels Description:

Giant CXR X1 Disc Gravel Wheels are lightweight and rugged wheels that will bring additional ride compliance to a gravel bike, especially when tackling rough, technical terrain. The shallow hookless disc specific rims are made using an advanced carbon fiber construction to eliminate bends in the carbon fiber and remove unnecessary material, while leaving a reinforced sidewall that give these lightweight rims enough impact resistance, stiffness, and overall strength that they can handle the stresses of a cross country mountain bike course. The hookless inner rim shape also provides excellent support for the sidewalls on larger volume tires, and the generous inner rim width increases the tire’s air volume which will provide better rider comfort, improved flat prevention, and allow the tire to stay glued to the ground better over rough surfaces and through corners for more predictable traction and bike control. Connecting the hubs to these incredible rims are 24 Double Butted Sapim Laser stainless steel spokes with lightweight alloy nipples, and these wheels lace those spokes up using Giant’s Dynamic Balanced Lacing Pattern to create a laterally stiff but vertically compliant wheel with snappy acceleration and less mass to push up hills.

As for the hubs, the hub shells are a proprietary Giant Centerlock Disc design crafted out of lightweight alloy. Filling these hub shells are sealed cartridge bearings and a chromoly 60t ratchet style freehub in the rear wheel, for low rolling resistance, quick rear hub engagement, and minimal required maintenance. When you combine these hubs, spokes, and rims together, the result is a comfortable, light, strong, and versatile wheelset that are a great upgrade for any gravel bike.
