Shimano GRX RD-RX827 Wireless Di2 Rear Derailleur feature a design that offers incredible wireless shifting performance and a smart design that adds clearance over trail obstacles and improves impact resistance when the worst case scenario happens. A revolutionary wedge shape adds extra ground clearance to avoid impacts; additionally, the derailleur body features a skid-plate design, a wide link structure, and a rugged aluminum pulley cage filled with solid pulleys that all combine to create a robust derailleur with impressive longevity. Within the body, a Shadow ES chain stabilization takes up less space than previous Shimano Shadow designs while still providing excellent chain retention and reduced chain slap over rough terrain. Despite all of the attention to creating a smaller profile to reduce impacts stuff happens especially over rough and technical terrain, so this derailleur has an integrated RD Protection function that will instantly return the derailleur to its original position after a strike happens.

As for the actual shifting performance, Shimano has evolved their Di2 shifting by taking the battery and wiring that used to be housed within the bike’s frame and tucked the battery within a fully encased compartment in the rear derailleur to produce a truly wireless system which can be used on any road, adventure, and gravel bike with a derailleur hanger. Lightning quick and very precise shifts happen at the moment the GRX shifter is activate, with the rear derailleur effortlessly gliding the chain up and down HYPERGLIDE+ cassettes. Designed specifically for 1×12 speed drivetrains, the long pulley cage has the capacity to use a super wide 10-51T cassette to give the rider plenty of gearing so they can tackle any terrain they come across when going out for a great day on the bike.
